Adventures in or under the ocean
- The Palolo Deep Marine Reserve between the wharf at Apia and Vaiala Beach is one of the most popular snorkelling and swimming locations and found in Upolu.
- Piula Cave Pool is another good day-trip spot for snorkelling and swimming on Upolu. Closed on Sundays as its access is via the Piula Methodist Theological College.
- Surfing is great - particular along the southern coast of Upolu.
- Scuba diving in the clear South Pacific waters surrounding the islands. Try Dive Savaii (Savaii) and Moanalei Dive'N'Surf (Upolu). AquaSamoa Watersports (Upolu) based at Aggie Grey's offer a variety of diving and watersports activities.
- Sports fishing and big game fishing with Troppo Fishing Adventures, Boomerang Charters and Alfred's Fishing Charters (all based on Upolu)
Samoa's land-based adventures
- Enjoy a game of kirikiti with the locals. This is Samoa's version of cricket.
- Watch a traditional Samoan dance display including the thrilling fire dance.
- Visit Robert Louis Stevenson's gravesite on Upolu island at Mount Vaea, where a museum is found featuring the life and times of this famous childhood author.
- Also on Upolu are the Sliding Rocks at Papase'ea - a 5 metre rock slide down a waterfall into the deep freshwater pool below.
- At Lalomanu, take a guided Lalomanu Crater Walk. (Upolu)
- Le Pupu-pue National Park is a national park covering some 29 sq kilometres from Mount Fito down to the southern coast. Enjoy fauna and flora, with more than fifty bird species, plus flying foxes and tropical wildflowers. (Upolu)

- Visit the Salelologa Market to buy handicrafts. (Savaii)
- Visit also the Fuipisia Waterfall. Or the Mu Pago Waterfalls, which plunge directly into the sea near the villages of Puleia and Gautavai, or the impressive Alofaaga Blowholes near the village of Taga. (Savaii)
- The Anuala Green Turtle Conservation committee has guides to show you all about this wonderful creature and their efforts in protecting and releasing them to the wild. (Savaii)
