There are ten islands in Samoa, with two large adjacent islands (Upolu and Savai'i), and eight smaller islands offshore. The capital of Samoa is Apia and is located about 35 kilometres (1 hour's drive) east of the Faleolo International Airport.

Getting around is easy, with taxis, plenty of car hire companies, local buses or transport companies such as Navigator Samoa Tours & Transfers. There is also a ferry service between the islands of Upolu and Savai'i, which operates every two hours between 6am and 4pm, except Tuesdays (when there is no 10am or 2pm service) and Sunday (when the first ferry departs at 10am). Best to get to the ferry point at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.
